Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, 26th October 2013

October Bank Holiday
The only public Mass in our parish will be at St. Patrick’s Church at 11.00am.  There will be no exposition at St. Fiacre’s Church on Monday.
 
Parish Office
The Parish Office will be closed from Tuesday,  29th October and will reopen on Monday, 4th November at 9.00am. The priests may be contacted by telephone at any time: dial 056 776 4400 and follow auto prompts.
 
First Friday Visits
The first Friday of November occurs this week.  Because of feast day duties the priests will visit the sick and housebound as arranged by each priest.
 
Holy Days in November
The Feast of All Saints is celebrated on next Friday, 1st November.  Beginning on Thursday evening Holy Day Masses in our parish will follow the usual weekend schedule.
The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed is celebrated on Saturday. This is a day on which we are encouraged to commemorate our dead. Usual Saturday Mass schedule applies.
 
November Lists of the Dead
During November we remember in a special way our loved ones who have died.  It is a good and wholesome thing to pray for our dead.  Pre-printed forms are available in all our churches for those who would like to list deceased relatives and friends.  These can be placed before the altars and those listed will be remembered during our November Masses.
 
Volunteer Appreciation Evening
This weekend we are delighted with the opportunity to celebrate with and say thanks to our parish volunteers.   Thanks to all who help in our parish.
 
Eucharistic Ministers Rota
New rotas are available at the sacristies.  Ministers are asked to pick up a copy.

St. Vincent De Paul Collection
The monthly collection for the local conference of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, which was deferred last weekend, will be taken up at all Masses this weekend.  The local conference can be contacted on 087 681 0589.  Thank you.
 
Society of St. Vincent de Paul Mass
The annual Mass for deceased members of the Society will be celebrated at 12 noon on this Sunday, 27th October in the Black Abbey.
 
Holy Hour for Vocations
There will be a holy hour for vocations with benediction on Friday, 1st November in St. Mary’s Cathedral’s Blessed Sacrament Chapel from 7.00pm.

 
Parish Mission
St. Patrick’s Parish will host a Parish Mission from Saturday, 7th December until Friday, 13th December.  Keep the dates!  Further details later.

 
Men’s Weekend in Peace in Christ
Our diocesan retreat house hosts a weekend retreat for men between next Friday, 8th November (8.00pm) and Sunday, 10th November (2.00pm).  Guided by Mgr. Jim Cassin and Retreat House Team the weekend offers an opportunity to take time out for personal reflection and quiet prayer in pleasant and relaxed surroundings.  Details and booking: 056 772 1054.
 
Recruiting New Readers
The readers’ rota is being updated at the moment and we are looking for volunteers to read in church. Please contact the Parish Office (056 776 4400) if you would like to proclaim God’s Word in our parish. 
 
Peace in Christ Collection
There will be a church gate collection for Peace in Christ Diocesan Retreat House on next Saturday and Sunday. This is an valuable resource in our diocese and we ask your generous support.
 
Family Liturgy
Well done and thanks to a number of Transition Year girls from Presentation Secondary School who are faithful to helping at the 10.30am Sunday Liturgy at St. Fiacre’s Church.  
The liturgy is aimed at families with children at Primary School level and we appeal for more support from this age group and their parents.  Please encourage children to come to the front and get involved when they arrive in church.
 
Golden Jubilee
We congratulate Sr Anna Joyce and Sr. Brigid Leech on their Golden Jubilees as members of the St. John of God Congregation. May God continue to bless you both.
 
November Remembrance Service
Our annual Parish Remembrance Service takes place on Thursday, 28th November at 7.30pm in St. Fiacre’s Church.  During this service we will remember those who have died, especially those of our parishioners who died during the past year. 
 
Kilkenny Leader Partnership
Men’s Fitness, Health and Training in conjunction with Fennelly Fitness. Course is for 6 weeks and is for unemployed men. It will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11.00 – 1.00pm. The training will take place in Fennelly Gym, Hebron Industrial Estate. Contact Connie 086 771 8040.  Free of charge.
